Republican Mike Huckabee responded to an offstage noise during his speech to the National Rifle Association by suggesting it was Barack Obama diving to the floor because someone had aimed a gun at him.
Hearing a loud noise and interrupting his speech, Huckabee said: “That was Barack Obama. He just tripped off a chair. He’s getting ready to speak and somebody aimed a gun at him and he — he dove for the floor.”
There were only a few murmurs in the crowd after the remark.

I said I was going to have hard time with the things that will be said about Barack Obama. However, this comment, by a man of the cloth, is sickening to me.
I am trying to not be angry and look at it for what it is – a small comment by a small person. But, I am angry, very angry.
Are there any Republicans readers who would like to defend this type of rhetoric?
I would like to hear how you think a Baptist preacher making a joke about a Black man being shot at an NRA meeting is OK.

I’m mad as hell about this. I just want you to know that you’re not the only one. We’re all in this together, and this week has shown us how desperate and pathetic the republicans truly are, comparing Obama to Nazi appeasers and joking about his assassination. I believe the nation will rise above this and reject the politics of hate and fear.
And if you need something to cheer you up, check out this video:
As the creators said, it’s a McMasterpiece
So you’re not alone.
As for Huck’s remarks, he obviously misspoke, and I hope his slip of the tongue will follow him to Heaven.
Huckabee didn’t misspeak. It wasn’t a slip of the tongue.
But that crashing sound? That was his chance at a spot on the ticket.
of Chris Matthews smacking down the right wing shock jock that’s been posted around. It makes a very good point about appeasement and the people who use the word. (Especially people who only got the idea yesterday… still makes me chuckle.)
Huckabee is not fit to serve the people of the U.S. Obviously the republican party is suffering from idiots like Huckabee. Obviously you have no clue what why the Republican party is imploding.
But Huckabee attracted enough Christian Conservative who think like him to keep Romney from winning enough of the base to stop John McCain who attracted mostly liberal Republican and Independent votes.
John McCain got less votes from his party’s primary voters than Hillary Clinton got from hers.
John McCain is not the voice of the conservative movement. He is running to the mushy middle. He will attract moderate Democrats and Independents, not to the core values of the Party, but to himself as the anti-Obama.
Republicans MUST have a conservative leader in the house or Senate who will energise the base and lead the conservative movement.
And his name is…….
I won’t call it a joke in bad taste because there is absolutely no humor in it. I can’t imagine what he was thinking, obviously no one else there thought it was funny either.
